CASTING -TABLE READ FOR NEW FEATURE FILM

From Ian Mark, writer and producer of ‘A More Perfect Union’

“We are filling the last few roles for our zoom table read for the SAG feature A MORE PERFECT UNION. Several roles have already been cast but below are the roles we still need to fill. If you could, please have interested actors submit a headshot, reel/selftape clip, and resume to pasadonutsimprov@gmail.com with the subject line– “ROLE – name – Hire Survivors Hollywood – referral”.

I’d love to fill these slots with survivors!

Date of Table Read: Thursday, 5/28 at 11 am PST.

The read is unpaid, from your home, and private. The feature will be paid, SAG, and shot in-person following social distancing guidelines in Fall 2020.

A More Perfect Union will be among the first features produced entirely within social distancing guidelines and will capture two weeks in the Covid-19 pandemic Americans will never forget. Henry Berg gets exposed to Covid-19 at his trial for stealing presidential papers, forcing him to quarantine away from his family for two weeks. His wife Stella, fed up with him crusading against a corrupt administration and the surveillance state while she cares for their young daughter alone, has divorce papers signed and ready– but she’s dealing with a guilty conscience and a secret of her own.

Rosemary Sentelio (female, white, age range 45-75): An emotionally reserved, upper middle class woman from Maine. Contracts covid after refusing to isolate from her husband of 30 years. Mother of our female lead, Stella Sentelio.

Niecy Jenkins (female, any ethnicity except white, age range 35-80): A progressive candidate for president running on a platform of Medicare for All and a radical reshaping of America to dismantle the white supremacist patriarchy.

Paul Berg (male, Jewish, age range 45-70): an angry liberal who cannot believe the way our president is handling the crisis, Paul regularly calls his son, our male lead Henry, to complain about the country.

Martin Sentelio (male, white, age range 45-75)- a reserved man uncomfortable with emotions, Martin’s always had trouble connecting with his daughter, our female lead, Stella. Martin has a very large speech in an extremely emotional and traumatic moment for Stella, at the end of the script. This role requires an actor with gravitas.

Judge Shamitsa (any gender, any race, age range 40 and above)- A conservative appointee put on Henry’s case to ensure a conviction, Judge Shamitsa takes a malicious pleasure in squashing no-good derelicts like Henry.

Dr. Camika Lewis (female, black or mixed-race, age range 27-45)- An ER doc at Cedars Sinai, Camika used to be good friends with our female lead Stella when they were in med school together, before Stella dropped out to raise her daughter.”
